Online check-in: What is it? - Norwegian

Norwegian Airlines offers both traditional airport check-in and online check-in. This type of check-in is optional.

Online check-in with Norwegian Airlines opens 48 hours before departure. The closing time for online check-in depends on the travel destination.

How to check in online with Norwegian Airlines? Step-by-step instructions

  1. Go to the Norwegian Airlines website.
  2. You can log in to your account or directly find your booking by providing:
    • Your last name – the same one used when booking with eSky;
    • Your flight booking number (PNR) – you’ll find it in your eSky account and in your booking confirmation email.

An airline booking number (PNR) is a unique code used by airlines to identify a reservation. It typically consists of 6 characters, such as 4YUK3R.

For more details, please refer to How to find your booking reference, PNR and other identifying details.

📌 Important! PNR is not the same as your eSky reservation number!
The PNR number is issued by the airline, and it’s the one you need to check in for your flight on the website or in the Travel Assistant app. Your eSky reservation number is only used for contacting us.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the check-in. You can also check in using the Travel Assistant app.

What information is required for online check-in?

Norwegian Airlines requires the following information in order to issue a boarding pass and assign a seat on the aircraft:

  • nationality
  • date of birth
  • document type (ID card or passport)
  • document number and series
  • country of issue
  • date of issue and expiration date
  • visa, if required in the destination country (e.g. the United States)

You must bring the document provided during online check-in to the airport and present it during boarding.

When is online check-in not available?

If online check-in is unavailable 48 hours before departure, you will need to check in at the airport.

Airport check-in is also required for passengers who:

  • require special assistance
  • are minors travelling without a guardian
  • are travelling with an animal, musical instrument, or weapon

You must report for baggage check-in at least 1 hour before the scheduled departure time.
For international flights to/from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Geneva, and Istanbul, check-in must be completed no later than 2 hours before the scheduled departure.

I purchased online check-in through eSky. What’s next?

If you’ve purchased the online check-in service, all you need to do is provide us with your information. We will request it in a separate email (subject: “Provide us with the information required for check-in”). In the email, you’ll find a button linking to a secure form where you can quickly and easily submit your details. You’ll receive your boarding pass no later than 8 hours before departure.
