Conakry
Conakry, the capital of Guinea, is situated in the western part of the country on the Atlantic Ocean, partially on Tombo Island. Home to about 1.7 million people, it is a key economic and cultural-scientific hub, as well as the country's main seaport. The city experiences a tropical monsoon climate, so the best time to visit is during the dry season, from November to April. Highlights in Conakry include the Sandervalia National Museum and the Botanical Garden. The city was the World Book Capital in 2017.
