Staff were helpful and polite in this really busy airport

My flight from Durban was delayed for some reason,so that meant I was late for my flight from JHB to London on Monday 18th March. The whole experience was a nightmare and dont wish it for my worse enemy.Initiarly the staff were not helpful it was as if I'm the one who delayed the flight.The manager on the terminal floor told me I had to call Comair coz British airways cant accept that responsibility they were just written on the paper but wasnt their problem...Was sent to transit to try speak to Virgin people whom had already left for the night.Was left stranded for hours till one lady suggested I go to British airways staff on domestic floor they might assist then I went and met a lady called Nomsa who was very helpful and understanding to my situation.kind enough to rebook my ticket for next day and made sure I was put in a airport hotel for the night.Had to call work and cancel my shift and lost money but at the time that was the list of my worry..In the future please give enough time between flights so that we have enough time to go through security and all that

Airport is so congested with workers, possibly because it also functions almost like a mall. Understandable! You can find almost anything you can find in a city mall, from foo to clothing. Good thing is you can never get bored! The presence of security personnel with their arms and airport personnel asking for cash can also be a little unnerving but the place feels more secure than it was 10 years back.

Poor service from staff at OR TAMBO! Unhelpful and showed no interest and very unfriendly. Spoke in native language passing comments with other staff.
Johannesburg International Airport, also known as OR Tambo International Airport, consists of six air terminals serviced by around 60 different airlines. It is considered to be the largest airport on the African continent in terms of checked passengers. It is located 22 km north-east of Johannesburg city centre. There are hotels on the site of the airport as well as in its vicinity.

Bus
The main bus station is located at terminal B. It is open 24 hours a day and provides transportation to, among others, Johannesburg city centre as well as its nearby districts: Fordsburg, Melville, Newtown, Parktown, Soweto and Yeoville. Within the airport also run free buses thanks to which we can get to exit gates, parkings, the check-in terminal or retail sales and service area.
Train
The rail terminal is currently under construction. It is to be opened in 2010.
Taxi rank is located at check-in terminals. It usually takes about 30-40 minutes to get to the city centre from the airport. Prices of transfers to the city centre range between 200 and 400 ZAR.

26°08'05"S, 28°13'53"ER24 route leads directly to Johannesburg city centre. From the airport you have to go to the western exit which connects directly to the above-mentioned road. If we want to go to Pretoria, leaving the exit we should take route no. R21 which connects the airport to the capital of the country located northwest.
Parking zones are located in various parts of the airport. A stay up to 15 minutes in the zone located next to the terminals is free of charge. In other parts of the airport fees start from 8 ZAR for 15 minutes of stay. If we intend to leave the car in the parking zone for the duration of a trip, the fee will be around 20 ZAR per day.
Gastronomy - at the airport there are a number of dining facilities (restaurants, bars, cafés).
Shopping – at the airport a wide range of shops with various assortment, also duty-free ones (more than 40) can be found.
Financial services – branches of banks, cash machines, money transfer kiosks are available at the airport.
Other amenities – at the airport there are: a medical clinic, conference centres, VIP lounges, a Christian Chapel
