    Malta
Malta is an island city-state in the Mediterranean Sea, 81 km south of Italy. It consists of the Maltese archipelago, of which Malta is the main island. The capital, Valletta, is famous for its 320 monuments and its UNESCO listing. Malta's history stretches back 7,000 years, and its megalithic temples are older than the Egyptian pyramids. The official languages are Maltese and English. The Mediterranean climate brings mild winters (10-15°C) and hot summers (25-35°C), and the best time to visit is spring and autumn.
