    Algeria
Algeria, the largest country in Africa, is located in the continent’s north along the Mediterranean Sea. Its capital, Algiers, is home to about 1.6 million people. Much of the country is covered by the deserts and semi-deserts of the Sahara. Algeria’s history stretches back to Phoenician times, followed by Roman and Arab influences. The official language is Arabic, and the currency is the Algerian dinar. The north enjoys a Mediterranean climate, while the south is dominated by desert conditions. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the best times to visit, offering mild temperatures and pleasant weather.
