Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan, in Central Asia, borders five countries. It is the most populous state in the region and, after Russia, the second most populous country to emerge from the collapse of the USSR. Its capital Tashkent, along with Samarkand and Bukhara, draws visitors with its rich history. Uzbekistan's landscape is dominated by the Kyzylkum desert and the Tian Shan mountains. The continental climate brings hot summers (up to 45°C) and mild winters. The best time to visit is spring and autumn, when temperatures are milder.
