Westjet – baggage policy
The size of checked baggage cannot exceed 157 cm and the baggage can’t weigh more than 23 kilograms. Passengers can also take hand-baggage. Hand baggage cannot exceed 53cm x 38cm x 23 cm. Not a great travelling experience
First time flying with Westjet and I'd read some mixed reviews but thought it would be okay. The flight out was fine, 2 hours delayed but pretty smooth so no issues at all. The flight home though was pretty awful. They boarded the plane then found there was an issue with oil and kept us on the tarmac on the plane for 2.5 hours while they fixed it and deiced the plane 3 times before we could leave. En route to Gatwick, we got diverted to Iceland as the toilets stopped working but it turned out they also needed more fuel and there was a medical emergency on board (completely unavoidable so not a problem). We got to Iceland and the toilets and medical emergency were addressed within 45 minutes but we stayed for almost 2 hours, during which time the plane had to be deiced again. We arrived in Gatwick 5 hours after our scheduled time with such a rough landing that a few overhead bins opened on landing. Wasn't great but then I appreciate they were trying to ensure we were safe. Think we just had a bad flight, hopefully others have had more successful trips.

Like a charter with no leg room

I like the planes, however the computer was down when I tried to checkin -- so I went through the whole process only to be told to do it at the airport the next day. My seat was changed to sit next to my husband, when I had booked and selected a window seat (as the window seat was my priority). We had to wait about 45 minutes on the tarmac before we were allowed to take off. My suitcase didn't make it home. I opened up a claim upon my arrival (Sunday night) -- it is now Wednesday and I still haven't heard anything. Ironically a couple months ago my brother flew Westjet from Calgary to Orange County (CA) and they lost his bags on that flight too. All these things could have happened on any flight -- so I always keep that in mind.
