Sky Express

Sky Express, headquartered at Athens International Airport, is a Greek airline established in 2005. Its hub is located at Heraklion International Airport. Sky Express operates domestic flights to 32 destinations. It has won several awards, including the 'Airline of the Year' ERA Silver Award in 2014 as well as the ‘Fastest Growing Airline in a Thin Route’ Award from Athens International Airport in 2015 and 2016. The company’s slogan is ‘We are islanders’.

Baggage

Passengers flying with Sky Express are allowed to carry on board one piece of hand baggage and one small personal item such as a handbag or laptop case. The smaller item must fit under the seat in front of them. The maximum weight of cabin baggage depends on the fare – it is up to 6kg for all the tariffs except for SkyBasic+ which goes with 8kg hand baggage allowance. It may not be bigger than 45 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm. Sky Express customers are also permitted to bring additional pieces of baggage that will be checked and put in the aircraft hold. Checked baggage allowance varies from 8kg to 23kg depending on the ticket type.

Booking classes

Sky Express customers fly in a single-class economy cabin, however, there are four types of tariffs that they can choose from. With the SkySmart fare travellers have access to the Sky Executive Lounge and can get through security faster using Sky Fast Lane. They are also allowed to make changes to the reservation free of charge and are permitted 23kg checked baggage allowance. The SkySave fare includes the Sky Executive Lounge access as well, plus the possibility to choose the preferred seat. The SkyFly fare is addressed to passengers with little baggage up to 8kg.

Online check-in

As Sky Express does not provide the possibility of checking in online, it must be done at the airport check-in counters. It is available from 2 hours to 30 minutes before the flight departure at most airports and to 40 minutes at Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos. Passengers who need special assistance should show up at the check-in area at least 90 minutes before the flight departure with the necessary travel documents. Their baggage should comply with the permitted allowance, otherwise costly excess baggage charges will apply. It is advisable to purchase additional pieces of baggage while making a booking, as it is definitely less expensive.

Fleet

The Sky Express fleet consists of 12 ATR aircraft which are designed to operate short-haul distances. It includes ATR 42-320, ATR 42-500 and ATR 72-500 planes that can accommodate from 46 to 70 passengers.
