Heraklion
Heraklion is the largest city on Crete and the capital of its regional unit. Located on the island's northern coast, it is the fifth largest city in Greece, home to about 140,000 people. It is near the famous ruins of the Palace of Knossos, making it an important historical site. The Mediterranean climate offers mild winters (10-15 °C) and hot summers (30 °C), with spring and early autumn being the best times to visit.
