Alesund
Ålesund is a picturesque city on the western coast of Norway, in the Møre og Romsdal region. It is situated at the mouth of the fjords leading into the Norwegian Sea, on a peninsula and several islands. The city is an important center for fishing and fish processing. In 1904, it was completely destroyed by fire, and its Art Nouveau reconstruction attracts tourists. Ålesund is home to about 40,000 residents. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and cool summers. The best time to visit is summer, when the days are long and clear.
